1911 T205 Gold Border Collection (34 cards including 10 HOFers with Cobb) Plus T206 Cobb & Speaker

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $2,014.50

Sharp-looking group of thirty-six different classic tobacco cards including thirty-four T205 and two T206. This group is highlighted by twelve Hall of Famers, including two examples of Ty Cobb (one T205 and one T206), Tris Speaker, Roger Bresnahan, and Eddie Collins. Each card in this collection has been graded and encapsulated as "Authentic" by SGC due to evidence of trimming or recoloration. Eight cards present Vg-Ex or better on the front while the balance are in various lower grades (ranging from Pr to Vg, averaging Gd) in appearance. This collection consists of the following: 1909-1911 T206 (2 cards): Cobb/red (HOF) and Speaker (HOF). 1911 T205 (34 cards): Bender (HOF), Blackburne, Bresnahan/mouth closed (HOF), Brown (HOF), Carrigan, Chase/both ears; frame extends, Cobb (HOF), Collins/mouth closed (HOF), Collins/mouth open (HOF), Delehanty, Dooin, Elberfeld, Flynn, Foxen, Gardner, Gaspar, Gray, Herzog, Hoblitzell/"Cin" after 2nd 1908, Huggins (HOF), Jennings (HOF), Konetchy, McGraw (HOF), Meyers, O'Leary, Oakes, Oldring, Paskert, Rucker, Schaefer, Stone, Sweeney, Titus, and Wheat (HOF). All cards have a Polar Bear advertising back except for three backs obscured by album paper (Gray, Jennings, and Sweeney) and one Sweet Caporal (Delehanty). This is a very attractive group of cards from "the olden days," with condition issues but still very collectable, and ideal for the collector who does not want to spend a fortune, but wants real, original circa 1910 tobacco cards which capture the spirit of the history of the game and collecting. This group is of special note as it has a high concentration of Hall of Famers, including two Ty Cobbs. Total: 36 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000.
