Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $711.00
Presented are a pair of rarely offered sets dedicated to "Breeds of Dogs", produced in the 1880s and 1910 respectively. Animals have always been a popular subject among card manufacturers, with dogs perhaps the most popular. 1) 1880s N375 H. Ellis & Co. "Breeds of Dogs" near-complete set (24/25): missing only Grey Hound for completion. Extremely attractive in overall Vg condition with one lesser due to creasing. Light staining visible along the edges of some cards without detracting from the overall appearance. Included are Tiger Cigarettes, Bengal Cheroots, and Triplex Cigarettes advertising brand varieties. 2) 1910 S4 Fatima Cigarettes "Breeds of Dogs" complete set (25): Excellent condition with one silk displaying a light crease. Measures 2-1/8 by 3-1/4 inches. Light fraying visible on some silks. This is an exceptionally attractive group of two very scarce nonsport sets featuring a highly desirable subject among collectors. Total: 49 cards and silks. Reserve $200. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $711.00
