1954 to 1995 Near-Complete Run of Playboy Magazine (482 Issues)
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $7,702.50
Near complete run of Playboy magazine beginning with October 1954, through December 1994, missing only one issue (March 1955) for completion. A total of 482 different issues are represented here. Our consignor purchased nearly all of these magazines from a collector many years ago, who related that he purchased two copies of every issue. One issue he read, while the other he carefully put away on a shelf with the intention (as a collector) of keeping and saving a set in perfect uncirculated condition. Our consignor purchased the collection of uncirculated issues and as such, nearly all of the examples offered here are in remarkable Ex-Mt to Nr-Mt condition on average, with just a few in slightly lesser condition. All are individually bagged and have been stored in ideal conditions upright in cardboard boxes for years, where they have been protected against damage from sunlight and insects and all other elements. This is a remarkable high-grade run of Playboy magazines. While most of the issues offered here are not as rare (and hence not as valuable on an individual basis) as the key issues #1 though #10 (which have been separated and are presented in the two previous lots in this auction), it would very difficult to find or assemble a run in such an extremely high grade. Playboy magazine has always been highly collectible, and we cannot recall having seen a similar high-grade run, and certainly not a finer one, of this iconic publication. Total: 482 issues. The substantial size/weight of this item requires that there will be a shipping charge for this lot (which will vary depending upon where it is being shipped). The shipping charge will be billed separately from the auction invoice. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $7,702.50
