1937 Orville Wright Signed Check

Bank check, dated February 5, 1937, signed by Orville Wright (1871-1948), American aviation pioneer. The bank check, drawn on The Winters National Bank & Trust Co., of Dayton, Ohio, is made out to "The Dayton Automobile Club" in the amount of $10.00 and has been signed in black fountain pen (grading "10') by "Orville Wright." Brothers Orville and Wilbur Wright built and flew the first manned, motor-powered heavier-than-air craft. The first flight, with Orville at the controls, took place at Kitty Hawk, North Carolina, on December 17, 1903. The success of that flight paved the way for the development of larger and heavier planes shortly after. The check (8.5 x 3 inches) displays normal bank cancelation stamps and perforations, as well as a vertical fold and a staple hole in the upper left corner. In Very Good to Excellent condition.
