1910-1911 C60 Imperial Tobacco "Lacrosse Series" Partial Set (59/100)

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,777.50

Collection of fifty-nine different (of the 100 in the set) C60 Imperial Tobacco cards devoted exclusively to the game of lacrosse. The C60 set is one the premier lacrosse sets of the era along with the similarly themed C59 set. Both are highly popular among many serious collectors, including hockey-card collectors, and are appreciated for their great scarcity and resemblance to the popular C55 and C56 "Hockey Series" cards from the same era. These very significant and scarce sets are often overlooked by collectors, but present fantastic opportunities to acquire colorful, early sports cards of several notable lacrosse players as well as many future Hockey Hall of Famers, some of which are found in this collection, including "Newsy" LaLonde, Joseph Malone, and Bouse Hutton. Condition is three Vg, thirty-five Fr to Gd, and twenty-one Pr. This collection consists of the following: #1, 2, 8, 12, 15, 16 Gorman (Fr), 17, 18 Hutton (Pr), 20, 21, 22, 25, 26, 27, 29, 30, 33, 36, 38, 39, 40, 43, 44, 45, 46, 48, 49, 51, 52, 53, 54, 57, 58, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 71, 73, 74, 79, 80, 81, 82, 84 Malone (Vg+), 85, 86, 87, 88, 89, 90 Cattarinich (Gd/Vg), 91, 92, 93, 94, 95, 96, and 97 LaLonde (Gd). This is a very presentable mixed-grade collection of this scarce and desirable tobacco issue featuring numerous highlights and appealing to lacrosse- and hockey-card collectors alike. Total: 59 cards. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $1,777.50
