1992-1993 Nicklas Lidstrom Detroit Red Wings Game-Used Road Jersey - Photo Matched!
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,851.25
Detroit Red Wings road jersey worn by future Hall of Fame defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom during his 1992-1993 sophomore season. This is not only an extremely early Lidstrom jersey, but one that has also been photo matched! It is accompanied by a LOA from the experts at GameWornAuctions.Net (highly respected specialists in game-worn hockey jerseys), which includes a photo of Lidstrom wearing this very jersey. The red knit jersey features the Red Wings team logo embroidered in white on the front. The number "5" appears on the reverse and each sleeve. "Lidstrom" is lettered on the reverse directly above the number. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in white tackle twill. The Stanley Cup 100th Anniversary patch is located on the right breast. The "CCM" and NHL logos are affixed along the bottom rear tail, while the "Eastside Teamsports" initials and company namer are screened in red along the interior bottom tail. Adjacent to the Eastside Teamsports name is the company's certification that reads "Authentic 1992-93 Detroit Red Wing Game Sweater." The jersey is original, as issued, with the accompanying LOA detailing the apparent use: "The game wear on this sweater is solid and consists of stick and slash marks, board burns, board paint transfer, un-repaired burn holes, a fight strap that has lost the battle to salt and rust, inner pilling, and more than half a dozen team-sewn repairs." The jersey has been perfectly photo matched by the presence of a dark transfer mark on the front that is easily identifiable on the jersey Lidstrom is wearing in one of the accompanying photos. Lidstrom was one of the greatest players of his era and a seven-time winner of the James Norris Memorial Trophy, which is awarded annually to the League's top defensive player. Born in Sweden, Lidstrom was selected by the Red Wings in the third round of the 1989 NHL draft, but he continued playing in Sweden a few years before joining the club for the 1991-1992 season. Lidstrom remained with the Red Wings for his entire twenty-year NHL career, leading the club to four Stanley Cup Championships. A twelve-time All Star, Lidstrom also won an Olympic Gold Medal with Sweden in 2006. This is an exemplary Lidstrom jersey in all respects and one that would be a welcome addition to any advanced hockey collection. LOA with photo documentation from GameWornAuctions.Net. Reserve $500.
