Circa 1960s Bobby Jones Signed "Masters" Photo
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $474.00
Magazine photo signed in blue ink (grading "8/9") by legendary golfer Bobby Jones. The photo pictures Jones as he attends the Masters at Augusta National Golf Club. What makes this photo so appealing is that Jones is wearing his green Masters jacket. Jones founded the Augusta National Golf Club and designed its course, with the club opening in 1933. The following year Jones founded the prestigious Masters Tournament, and he even participated in the tournament (mostly on an exhibition basis) for a number of years to help promote it. In 1948 he was diagnosed with syringomyelia, a rare degenerative disease of the central nervous system that confined him to a wheelchair for most of his later years. He died in 1971 at the age of 69. The photo (4.25 x 5.75 inches) displays a horizontal fold (not affecting the signature) and a few minor edge creases. In Very Good condition overall. Full LOA from PSA/DNA and LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $474.00
