1970-1971 Topps Basketball Complete Set (175) Plus Unopened Wax Pack
Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $1,659.00
Topps' second NBA set increased in size to 175 cards and again continued to use the condition-sensitive oversized card design. The issue is packed with Hall of Famers and rookies, and is highlighted by Pete Maravich's rookie card. This complete high-grade set of 175 cards includes twelve cards that have been graded and encapsulated by SGC. Condition is 29% Nr/Mt-Mt, 35% Nr/Mt, 22% Ex-Mt, and 14% Ex (mostly due to centering) with two lesser. Keys: #1 Scoring Ldrs (NM/MT 88), 7 Bradley (NM/MT 88), 10 Havlicek (NM+ 86), 13 Riley RC (Ex-Mt), 24 Checklist (NM+ 86), 50 Chamberlain (NM 84), 65 Baylor (NM+ 86), 69 Silas (NM/MT 88), 70 Hayes (Nr/Mt), 75 Alcindor (EX/NM 80), 100 Robertson (Nr/Mt), 107 West AS (Ex-Mt), 112 Havlicek AS (Nr/Mt), 113 Baylor AS (MINT 96), 114 Robertson AS (NM/MT 88), 120 Frazier (Ex), 123 Maravich RC (EX/NM 80),137 Murphy RC (NM+ 86), and 160 West (Ex-Mt). Also included with this set is an opened wax pack from this issue (which contained cards, an Action Poster, and a stick of gum). The pack, which is a desirable collectible on its own, grades Ex with minor wear at the corners. This is a very attractive and high-grade set of these popular early Topps basketball cards packed with numerous highlights. The equivalent SMR value for just the twelve graded cards is $728. Total: 175 cards and one pack. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,659.00
