1910 E104-1 Nadja Caramels Eddie Collins

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $829.50

Graded VG 3 (MK) by PSA. Extremely rare 1910 E104-1 Nadja Caramels Eddie Collins with "Swift" overprint on reverse. This magnificent example of key Hall of Famer Eddie Collins from the extremely rare E104-1 Nadja Caramels series features a classic portrait image along with the "World's Champions" overprint on front. E104-1 Nadja Caramels are among the rarest of all twentieth-century caramel issues. Produced to commemorate the Athletics’ 1910 championship season, the 18-card set features Philadelphia Athletics exclusively. The cards measure 1-1/2 x 2-5/8 inches, which is the standard size for tobacco issues. They are nearly identical to D359 Rochester/Williams Baking, and another related set of legendary rarity, T208 Fireside Tobacco. The card is very attractive, well centered, with even rounding to the corners, no creases, a deep red background, and crisp image. The blank back has a red ink stamp reading "Swift" along with a street address visible. This stamp is very common among cards from this issue and represents a specific retail store. The "Swift" establishment stamped these cards with its name and address for distribution with candy or just as promotional giveaways. There are four additional blue ink spots on the back. This is an extremely striking, very attractive example of one of the rarest of all Eddie Collins cards, worthy of the most advanced collection. Reserve $300. Estimate $500+.
