1993 Robin Yount Milwaukee Brewers Signed Game-Used Home Jersey - September 19, 1993 - Hit Number 3,134!

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $5,036.25

Special one-game-only Milwaukee Brewers home jersey worn by Hall of Famer Robin Yount during his final season, on September 19, 1993, for a game against the Baltimore Orioles. On that date the Milwaukee Brewers held a special promotion called "Shirt Off Your Back Day" in which a number of lucky fans received the actual jerseys worn by the Brewers players in the game. The fans were chosen at random, "lottery-style" by their seat number. The offered jersey dates from that memorable promotion and was worn by center fielder Robin Yount as designated by the unique strip tag in the collar that reads "1993 Yount/115-Fan." Yount tripled in the first inning of the game, driving in two runs, for his only hit in the club's 8-4 loss to the Orioles. 1993 marked Yount's final season and he appeared in just eight more games that year. The triple he hit while wearing this jersey was the 3,134th hit of his career (out of a total 3,142) and also his final three-bagger (126 total). To say that two-time MVP Award winner Robin Yount was the greatest player in Milwaukee Brewers franchise history would be an understatement. Yount, who played his entire twenty years in Milwaukee, retired as the club's all-time leader in nearly every offensive category, including home runs (251), RBI (1,406), hits (3,142), and runs (1,632). In 1994 the Brewers honored Yount by retiring his number "19" and five years later he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility.

The white pinstripe jersey is lettered "Brewers" across the front and features the number "19" on both the left breast and reverse. "Yount" is lettered on the reverse directly above the number. All letters and numerals are appliquéd in blue-on-gold tackle twill. A "Russell Athletic 44" label appears on the left front tail. As noted earlier, a white strip tag in the collar denotes its special one-game use for the giveaway promotion: "1993 Yount/115-Fan." Yount has signed the jersey in blue Sharpie ("5," heavy bleeding) on the left breast. The jersey is original, with no alterations, and displays light-to-moderate wear. Given its unique provenance, this is an exceptional Robin Yount jersey in all respects, especially with the knowledge that he recorded his 3,134th hit while wearing it during one of the last games of his celebrated career. Accompanied by a signed LOA from Dave Bushing and Dan Knoll, dated June 2, 1999, and an LOA from James Spence/JSA (autograph only). Reserve $500. Estimate $2,000+. SOLD FOR $5,036.25
