1966 Eddie Kasko Boston Red Sox Game-Used Jacket and Cap with Family Provenance
Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $414.75
Boston Red Sox team jacket and cap worn by shortstop Eddie Kasko in 1966. Each of these items has been consigned directly by the Kasko family and is accompanied by a letter of provenance from Kasko's niece. Kasko only played with the Red Sox in 1966, with the year also marking the final season of his ten-year career. He later managed the Red Sox for four seasons beginning in 1970. In 2010 Kasko was inducted into the Boston Red Sox Hall of Fame in recognition of his remarkable twenty-eight years of service with the club (player, minor and Major League manager, and executive). 1) Boston Red Sox Jacket. The navy nylon jacket features a chenille red-and-white Red Sox logo on the left breast. Red-white-and-blue cloth trim adorns the collar, waist, and cuffs. Kasko's uniform number ("2") is written in black marker in the collar. A size "42" tag appears in the interior left pocket. Team jackets are much scarcer than jerseys and this is an exceptional example from the era. Moderate wear throughout. 2) Boston Red Sox Cap. The navy wool cap features a red-and-white embroidered "B" on the front. A "KM Pro Co." label appears on the interior leather headband, as does the stamped size "7 1/8." Kasko's uniform number ("2") appears twice on the underside of the brim. Moderate wear overall. Total: 2 items (jacket and cap). Reserve $200. Estimate $400/$600. SOLD FOR $414.75
