Circa 1985 Ron Lewis Original Baseball Paintings Used to Produce Renata Galasso First-Day Covers (8)

Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $2,251.50

Collection of eight original Ron Lewis baseball paintings, each of which was commissioned for use on a Renata Galasso first-day cover in the mid 1980s. The paintings feature, respectively, Rickey Henderson, Reggie Jackson, Mike Schmidt, Dave Winfield, George Brett, Rod Carew, Keith Hernandez, and Lance Parrish. All of the paintings have been signed and dated (either "85" or "86") by Lewis along the base with the exception of Brett and Carew. Each of these rare and highly desirable Ron Lewis artworks has been in the possession of the publisher since the time of its commission. They have never before been offered for sale. Ron Lewis is one of the premier sports artists of our time. In addition to his baseball pieces, Lewis has also created many other iconic works relating to the sports of football, basketball, and boxing. Original Ron Lewis paintings are highly prized by collectors in both the fields of sports and art. The fact that these eight paintings were used to produce first-day covers and have never before been available to collectors certainly adds to their appeal. Each painting, rendered in what appears to be oil on board, measures 8 x 10 inches and is in Mint condition. Reserve $200. Estimate (open).
