1910 PC796 Sepia Honus Wagner Postcard

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,258.75

Graded VG/EX 50 by SGC. Outstanding example of one of the key cards from this rare and popular 25-card sepia-toned postcard set, featuring legendary Hall of Famer Honus Wagner. The manufacturer of this sepia-toned postcard series is unknown. The PC796 set is one of the most striking sets of the era. This is a magnificent example of one of the most impressive of all Wagner cards. Bright and crisp, both front and back, with a little corner wear. The reverse of the card has the faintest hint of impressions from storage in an old-fashioned photo album (the type in which cards are "tipped in") in all four corners, and a couple very small, light creases visible only upon close inspection. The card has never been mailed and has no writing on its traditional postcard reverse. This is an exceptionally attractive card of Honus Wagner from one of the most distinctive and popular of all postcard issues, and would be a significant addition to any serious Hall of Fame or prewar-card collection. Dimensions: 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500+. SOLD FOR $3,258.75
