Original news photo picturing New York Yankees first baseman Lou Gehrig as he sits on the steps of the dugout at Briggs Stadium in Detroit following the end of his record 2,130 consecutive-game playing streak on May 2, 1939. Encapsulated and designated a "Type I" photo by PSA/DNA. An "International News Photo" credit stamp appears on the reverse, as does the handwritten pencil notation "5-2-39/Detroit, Mich/Lou Gehrig out of/lineup after/2130 games." The original paper news caption is no longer present. The photo (6.5 x 8.5 inches) displays a moderate vertical crease, as well as a few minor creases. In Very Good condition. Reserve $300.
