Starting Bid - $200.00, Sold For - $414.75
High-grade Chicago Cubs program issued for the 1929 World Series against the Philadelphia Athletics. The colorful cover displays photos of each club's manager, Joe McCarthy of the Cubs and Connie Mack of the A's, while the back cover features an illustration of Wrigley Field. The interior pages include portrait photos of members of both clubs, as well as team and league officials. The eight-page program (6 x 9 inches) has not been scored. The preprinted lineups include Hornsby, Cuyler, and Grimm for Chicago and Cochrane, Simmons, and Foxx for Philadelphia. The Athletics defeated the Cubs in five games in the 1929 World Series, including victories in both games at Chicago (Games 1 and 2). This program is in a remarkable high grade rarely seen in such an early World Series program. Bright, crisp, and clean. Except for a tiny surface wrinkle on the front cover the program remains in Near Mint condition, looking exactly as it did when first purchased at the World Series in 1929. Reserve $200. Estimate $400+. SOLD FOR $414.75
