Circa 1911-1921 H&B Full-Size Decal Bat Collection: Cobb, Lajoie, and Gowdy

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,896.00

Collection of three full-size decal bats issued by H&B between the years 1911 and 1921. For each bat we have graded the decal (on a scale of "1" to "10") and bat separately, however, it must be noted that grading of decals is very subjective in general, but is especially so for decals, and bidders should use their own judgment after viewing the images on line. 1) 1916-1921 Ty Cobb "40 T. C." decal bat. The decal features a full-length image of Cobb in a batting pose, below which appears his endorsement and the words "Georgia Peach." Cobb's facsimile signature appears on his image. Size: 34 inches. Decal: "4," approximately 70% intact. Bat: Vg, with moderate-to-heavy wear and apparent use. 2) 1916-1921 Nap Lajoie "40 L" decal bat. The decal features a full-length image of Lajoie in a batting pose, with the Louisville Slugger brand name below. Size: 33 inches. Decal: "4/5," approximately 70% intact. Bat: Vg, with moderate-to-heavy wear, including a number of tiny nail holes, and apparent use. 3) 1911-1916 Hank Gowdy "40 H. G." decal bat. The decal features a portrait image of Gowdy, below which are his facsimile signature and endorsement. Size: 36 inches. Decal: "4," approximately 75% intact. Bat: Vg, with moderate wear, including a wrap of vintage black tape on the handle and apparent use. Total: 3 decal bats. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,896.00
