1910 Philadelphia A's World Series Yearbook-Style Souvenir Booklet

Starting Bid - $300.00, Sold For - $711.00

Rare Philadelphia Athletics World's Championship souvenir book that was apparently sold at Shibe Park during the 1910 World Series. The 52-page book, issued to commemorate the club's 1910 pennant-winning season, is extremely substantial and is similar in style to a yearbook. The interior pages feature full-length photos and short biographies of twenty-four team members, including Connie Mack, Eddie Plank, Chief Bender, Eddie Collins, Frank Baker, Jack Barry, Stuffy McInnis, Jack Coombs, Cy Morgan, Harry Davis, Jack Lapp, and Rube Oldring. The first page acknowledges the A's as "Champions of the American League/1910," while the second page features a portrait of owner Ben Shibe and provides a history of the Athletics franchise. The A's locked up the pennant by mid September in 1910, which allowed plenty of time for the publication of this souvenir book prior to the World Series, which began on October 17th. This is an exceptional rarity and one of the premier souvenir items produced for sale to fans relating to Connie Mack's first World Championship season in Philadelphia. The soft-cover book (5.25 x 7.75 inches) displays moderate handling wear, including a few minor corner creases on the cover in the lower right, and is in Excellent condition overall. Reserve $300. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $711.00
