1986 NY Mets Team-Signed World Series Reunion-Ball Collection (38)
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $5,036.25
Collection of thirty-eight official National League (Giamatti) balls, each signed by members of the 1986 World Champion New York Mets. All of these balls originate from a 1986 New York Mets reunion signing show, with the number of signatures per ball ranging from twenty-nine to thirty-one, averaging thirty. Twenty-seven of the balls have been signed in blue ink, with the other eleven having been signed in black ink. Ten of the balls display moderate toning along with moderate-to-heavy bleeding of the signatures. With the exception of those ten, the overwhelming majority of the balls are in Near Mint condition and nearly all of the signatures grade "9" or "10" (a few are slightly lesser due to minor bleeding or brushing). The signature of manager Davey Johnson is featured on the sweet spot of each ball, with the vast majority also featuring the signatures of Strawberry, Gooden, Carter, Hernandez, Wilson, Ojeda, Darling, Aguilera, Dykstra, Cone, McReynolds, Teufel, Mazzilli, Backman, Myers, and Miller. These signed balls have been carefully stored away and have not seen the light of day since the 1986 Mets reunion signing show at which they were obtained. Total: 38 signed balls. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $2,000++. SOLD FOR $5,036.25
