High-Grade 1953 New York Yankees World Champions Team-Signed Ball
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $3,258.75
Official American League (Harridge) ball signed in blue ink by the following twenty-eight members of the 1953 World Champion New York Yankees: Mantle, Stengel (Mgr.), Berra (black ink), Ford, Rizzuto, Mize, Martin, Triandos, Gorman, Miranda, Lopat, Houk, McDougald, Bollweg, Sain, Miller, Woodling (sweet spot), Raschi (sweet spot), Noren, Silvera, Reynolds, Renna, Schallock, Carey, Collins, Kraly, Bauer, and McDonald. Signatures range from "8" to "10," averaging "9." The initials "UM" appear in blue ink on a side panel. This is an extraordinary high-grade 1953 Yankees team ball and one of the finest we have ever seen, notable for both its completeness (all of the starters and key players are represented, plus Stengel), and the absence of any clubhouse signatures, which are especially common on Yankees team balls from this era. 1953 marked a record fifth consecutive World Championship for the legendary "Bronx Bombers," making this ball historically significant as well. The manufacturer's stampings are light, but clearly legible, and the ball remains in Excellent to Mint condition. A superb example in all respects and one that would please even the most discriminating collector. Full LOA from PSA/DNA and LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $2,000+.
