Hank Greenberg Single-Signed Ball - PSA/DNA 7

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,066.50

Official American League (MacPhail) ball signed in blue fine-point marker across the sweet spot by Hall of Fame first baseman Hank Greenberg. Graded NM 7 by PSA/DNA (autograph grade 9; ball grade 6). Greenberg has also added an inscription on the west panel that reads "To Jim/all the best." Hank Greenberg single-signed ball have always been particularly scarce and very high on collectors' want lists. Today, the demand outweighs the supply by a considerable margin. The reason for that, in part, is that Greenberg passed away in 1986, just before single-signed baseballs became universally recognized as the ideal and values began to skyrocket in response to collector demand. Based upon the manufacturer's stampings, it appears that this ball was produced in 1983. Therefore, it must have been signed sometime within the last four years of Greenberg's life. The ball displays a few areas of very light age toning on a few panels and is in overall Excellent to Mint condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA and full LOA from PSA/DNA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,066.50
