Jimmie Foxx Single-Signed Ball

Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $2,014.50

Red-stitched ball signed by Hall of Fame slugger Jimmie Foxx. "The Beast" has signed the ball in blue ball-point ink (grading "6/7," minor bleeding) on a side panel, partially extending across the sweet spot. Despite the fact that Foxx was elected to the Hall of Fame in 1951 and passed away in 1967, he died long before single-signed balls became the ideal for autograph collectors. As such, his signature alone on a baseball is extremely rare, with the demand far outweighing the supply (and this is especially so since Foxx is a key early member of the "500 Home Run Club," a very popular area of collecting for single-signed baseball collectors). The ball is moderately toned, with a number of surface blemishes. All of the manufacturer's stampings are no longer visible to the naked eye; however, on the accompanying LOA from James Spence Authentication, it is identified as an "Official International League" ball. In Good to Very Good condition. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,500+. SOLD FOR $2,014.50
