1950s Team-Signed Ball Collection: 1955 Indians, 1956 Yankees Old Timers, 1956 A. L. All-Stars, and 1956 Red Sox

This diverse collection of team-signed balls dates from the 1950s and features a total of twenty Hall of Fame signatures. 1) 1956 New York Yankees Old-Timers' Day ball. Twenty-one black-ink signatures (averaging "8/9") on an official American League (Harridge) ball, including Leo Durocher (sweet spot), Joe DiMaggio, Ed Walsh, Lefty Gomez, Joe Dugan, George Stirnweiss, Mule Haas (on ball label), Charlie Keller, Willie Kamm, Benny Bengough, Wilcy Moore, Red Rolfe, Buddy Hassett, Hank Borowy, Allie Reynolds, Monty Stratton, Bob Shawkey, and Tommy Henrich (the three remaining signatures are illegible). The vintage blue-ink notation, "Old Timers Day/1956," is written on the sweet spot. Ex, with a heavy layer of protective shellac. 2) 1955 Cleveland Indians team-signed ball. Thirty-one blue-ink signatures (averaging "7/8") on an official American League (Harridge) ball, including Lopez (Mgr., sweet spot), Kiner, Feller, Lemon (clubhouse signature), Doby, Wynn, Rosen, Fain, Mitchell, Score, Maglie, Avila, Smith, Wertz, Mossi, Woodling, Evers, Hegan, Dente, Strickland, and Naragon. Ex-Mt, with a slight hint of age toning. 3) 1956 American League All-Star team-signed ball. Twenty-seven blue or black-ink signatures (averaging "7") on what appears to be an official American League ball (the ball label is obscured by dark shellack and/or adhesive), including Mickey Mantle (sweet spot), Ted Williams, Whitey Ford, Casey Stengel (Mgr.), Early Wynn, George Kell, Al Kaline, Yogi Berra, Nellie Fox, Herb Score, Johnny Kucks, Ray Boone, Harry Simpson (sweet spot), Billy Martin, Harvey Kuenn, Charlie Maxwell, Jim Turner (coach), Chuck Dressen (coach), Gil McDougald, Tom Brewer (clubhouse signature), Sherm Lollar, Roy Sievers, Mickey Vernon, and Vic Power (the remaining three signatures are illegible). Vg-Ex, with a light layer of protective shellac and a dark layer of shellac and/or adhesive across the ball label. 4) 1956 Boston Red Sox team-signed ball. Twenty-eight blue-ink signatures (averaging "7/8") on an official American League (Harridge) ball, including Williams (sweet spot, clubhouse signature), Higgins (Mgr., sweet spot, clubhouse signature), Brewer, Piersall (on the ball label, clubhouse signature), Jensen, Vernon, Stephens, Buddin, White, Delock, Sullivan, Goodman, and Klaus. Nr-Mt. It should be noted that our when our consignor purchased the Indians and Red Sox team balls in the 1990s, it was noted in the auction description that both balls originated from the personal collection of outfielder Mickey Vernon.
