1954 Roy Campanella Signed Roogie's Bump Movie Still
Starting Bid - $500.00, Sold For - $1,303.50
Original movie still, from the 1954 Republic Pictures film Roogie's Bump, signed in black fountain pen by Roy Campanella. The photo captures Campanella on the field shaking hands with the young star of the film as another member of the Dodgers looks on. Campanella has beautifully inscribed the photo "Best Wishes/Roy Campanella" in black fountain pen atop his image. The photo is accompanied by a full LOA from PSA/DNA, which has assigned the signature a grade of "9." Roogie's Bump was a fanciful baseball movie in which a young boy develops a bump on his arm that allows him to become a Major League pitcher. One of the film's main appeals today is that it starred a number of Brooklyn Dodgers players in supporting roles, including Campanella. This is one of the finest Roy Campanella signed photos we have ever seen. As most collectors are aware, Campanella's signature is rare, in any form, due to his tragic automobile accident on January 28, 1958, that left him partially paralyzed. The photo (10 x 8 inches) is in apparent Near Mint condition and has been matted and framed to total dimensions of 15.75 x 14 inches. Full LOA from PSA/DNA and LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$1,500. SOLD FOR $1,303.50
