High-Quality Signed 3x5 Baseball Collection - 252 Different with 48 Hall of Famers and 161 Deceased Stars
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $2,252
This collection of 252 individually signed 3x5-inch cards, representing 252 different signers and spanning many different eras, includes forty-eight baseball Hall of Famers and numerous stars, as well as a few umpires, executives, sportswriters, and announcers. Of special note is the fact that 161 of the 252 individuals featured here (64%) are now deceased. All the signatures, penned in varying inks, are boldly executed and grade "9" or "10." A small number of the cards have been inscribed to a particular person (noted with an "I"). All of the cards are white and unlined (only Mungo and McDougald are lined on backside). The overwhelming majority of the cards are in Excellent to Near Mint condition or better. Seven are on 3x5 white unlined slips of paper, as noted. This grouping originates from a longtime collector who obtained each of these personally via the mail route using the famed Smalling address booklet. The vast majority were signed in the 1970s. The remainder were signed in the mid to late 1980s (with few exceptions).
