1964 Topps Giants Near-Complete Autographed Set (54 of 60)
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,067
Because of their size and attractive design, 1964 Topps Giants has always been one of the most highly prized and widely collected signed sets of the 1960s. This beautifully signed near-complete set is comprised of fifty-four of the sixty cards in the set, missing only #11 (Clemente), 22 (Farrell), 26 (Torre), 42 (Stuart), 56 (45on), and 57 (Boyer) for completion. The Aaron, Mays, and Yastrzemski signatures in this collection are secretarial. The signatures, penned in a variety of inks on the front, range from "8" to "10," averaging "9/10," with the exception of Freehan ("6"). It should be noted that while Clemente is missing, this card is possible to find autographed. The key rarity in signed form for this set is actually #22 Dick Farrell. After his Major League career ended in 1969, Farrell moved to England and was virtually inaccessible to collectors seeking his autograph from that time until he died (in England) in 1977. Keys: #4 Koufax, 7 Ford, 12 Kaline, 13 Fox, 21 Howard, 25 Mantle, 29 F. Robinson, 31 Spahn, 37 Marichal, 38 Killebrew, 39 Aparicio, 41 Gibson, 48 Yastrzemski (secretarial signature), 49 Aaron (secretarial signature), 50 B. Robinson, and 51 Mays (secretarial signature). A few of the cards, including Mantle, are off-center, but the collection as a whole is in overall Excellent condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000. SOLD FOR $1,067
