Bobo Newsom Autographed 1961 Fleer Baseball Greats Card: Key Rarity

Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $593

Exceedingly rare autographed Fleer Baseball Greats card #67 of Bobo Newsom. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, with the signature labeled "Authentic." Newsom has flawlessly signed the card in blue ink (grading "10") across his image. As anyone who has ever attempted to put together an autographed set of 1961 Fleer cards knows, Newsom is next to impossible to find. It is one of the key rarities (if not the key rarity) to the assembly of a collection of all possible signed 1961 Fleer Baseball Greats cards. The reason for that is timing. Newsom passed away in 1962, leaving autograph collectors with just a short one-year window of opportunity to obtain his signature on the card. This is the first example we have ever offered, and one of only a few known. The card displays light staining along both the top and bottom (very unobtrusive); otherwise in Very Good to Excellent condition. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $200. Estimate $300+. SOLD FOR $593
