1931 New York Yankees Team-Signed Ball with Ruth and Gehrig
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $2,963
Spalding "Babe Ruth-Home Run Special" baseball signed in black ink by nineteen members of the 1931 New York Yankees. As is customary, the signature of Babe Ruth ("5") sits alone upon the sweet spot. The remaining side panel signatures are Gehrig ("5"), Gomez, Ruffing, Lazzeri, Combs, Pennock, Weaver, Byrd, Lary, Sherid, Hoag, Chapman, Jorgens, McCarthy (clubhouse), and four others that are too faint to read. Aside from the four that are faded, the signatures range in grade from "1" to "5," averaging "3." The ball is moderately toned and the ball stampings remain distinct and legible. This is a very presentable mid-grade 1930s Yankees ball featuring seven Hall of Famers, ideal for display. LOA from James Spence/JSA. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,500+. SOLD FOR $2,963
