1954 Bowman Complete Set Minus One, Including #66 Ted Williams (224 cards)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,659
25% Ex (with a few slightly better), 60% range in grade from Vg to Vg-Ex, and 15% lesser grades. This is a very attractive mid-grade complete set minus one (missing #89 Mays, but including #66 Williams) of one of the most overlooked (and compared to many other sets, most reasonably valued) classic bubble-gum card issues from the golden age of the 1950s. The #66 Ted Williams is the key card to the 1954 Bowman set and one of the legendary key cards among all postwar gum cards. The #66 Piersall is also included. We have selected three cards to be graded by SGC. Keys: #1 Rizzuto (Vg), 6 Fox (Vg-Ex), 15 Ashburn (Ex), 45 Kiner (Pr), 50 Kell (Ex), 58 Reese (Vg-Ex/Ex), 62 Slaughter (Vg), 64 Mathews (Gd), 65 Mantle (SGC GOOD 30), 66a Williams (SGC GOOD 30), 66b Piersall (Gd), 90 Campanella (Fr), 110 Schoendienst (Ex), 132 Feller (Vg-Ex), 138 Hodges (Fr), 145 Martin (Ex), 161 Berra (SGC EX/NM 80), 164 Wynn (Vg), 170 Snider (Gd), 177 Ford (Gd), and 196 Lemon (Gd). Total: 224 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,659
