1933-1941 "Shoebox" Baseball-Card Collection (435 cards), Including Four Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Three Joe DiMaggio

Original-owner "shoebox" collection of 435 prewar cards, spanning the years 1933 to 1941, including representation from nine different classic issues, with numerous Hall of Famers and additional highlights, including four Babe Ruths, Lou Gehrig, Jimmy Foxx, three Joe DiMaggios, and Hank Greenberg. This is a collection unto itself! Nine cards have been graded and encapsulated by SGC (all submitted by REA). 1) 1933 R319 Goudey (130 cards): The cards span many grades but are overall in Vg condition, handled, but not abused, with some cards technically grading only Poor or Pr-Fr, and thirty-nine cards clipped on the bottom. Keys: #2 Vance (Gd), 7 Lyons (Fr), 19 Dickey (clipped bottom), two 22 Traynor (Fr and clipped bottom), two 25 Waner (Pr and clipped bottom), two 29 Foxx (Gd and clipped bottom), 35 Simmons (clipped bottom), 44 Bottomley (clipped bottom), two 49 Frisch (Fr and clipped bottom), 53 Ruth (SGC GOOD 30), two 74 Rixey (Vg and Gd), two 107 Manush (Vg-Ex and Vg), 109 Cronin (slight trim), 110 Goslin (slight trim), 125 Terry (Fr), two 133 Lindstrom (both Vg), three 134 Rice (Vg, Gd, clipped bottom), 144 Ruth (Pr), 147 Durocher (possible slight trim), two 149 Ruth (both SGC VG 40), 187 Manush (Vg), 197 Ferrell (Gd), 207 Ott (Vg-Ex), 211 Wilson (Fr), 220 Grove (Vg/Vg-Ex), 223 Dean (Fr-Gd), and 234 Hubbell (slight trim). 2) 1934 R320 Goudey (22 cards): #2 Cochrane (Fr), 10 Klein (Fr), 21 Terry (Vg-Ex), two 22 Vaughan (Vg-Ex and Pr), 23 Gehringer (Vg), and 61 Gehrig (SGC VG 40). The balance of the cards grade Vg/Vg-Ex overall (#4, 5, two 30, 32, 39, 49, 53, 54, 56, 57, 59, 69, 75, 77). 3) 1934-1936 R327 Diamond Stars (39 cards): #2 Simmons (Vg-Ex), 3 Maranville (Ex), 11 Dickey (Vg-Ex), 14 Terry (Vg-Ex), 16 Waner (Vg-Ex), 18 Hafey (Vg-Ex), 27 Traynor (Ex), 31 Cuyler (Ex), two 32 Rice (Vg-Ex and slight trim), 35 Averill (Ex), 36 Lombardi (Ex), 44 Hornsby (Vg), 54 Greenberg (SGC EX 60), two 60 Ruffing (Ex-Mt and slight trim), and 83 Waner (Vg). The balance of the cards grade Vg-Ex overall (#4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, two 12, 15, two 21, 22, 24, two 26, 37, three 40, 53, 79, and 94). 4) 1934-1936 R318 Batter-Up (40 cards): #6 Terry (Pr), 24 Averill (Vg), two 28 Foxx (Vg and Gd), 34 Simmons (Gd-Vg), and two 64 Dean (both Gd). The balance of the cards grade as follows: fourteen cards range from Pr to Gd, and nineteen cards are either missing backgrounds, clipped on the bottom, or glued to cardboard backing. 5) 1936 R322 Goudey: Greenberg (Ex). 6) 1939 R334 Play Ball (5 cards): two #6 Durocher (Fr and Pr), 10 (Gd), and two 80 (both Pr). 7) 1939 Centennial of Baseball Stamps near-complete set (20 of 25): Missing only five stamps for completion (#5, 8, 12, 13, and 19 Lajoie). Includes #15 Cobb, 18 Johnson, 20 Mathewson, 21 Ruth, 24 Wagner, and 25 Young. Each stamp is glued down to a thick cardboard backing, but otherwise they are well preserved with bright colors, and a Nr/Mt appearance. 8) 1940 R335 Play Ball (119 cards): two #1 DiMaggio (SGC VG 40 and borders trimmed off), two 6 Gomez (Fr and borders trimmed off), 10 Ruffing (borders trimmed off), 30 Berg (borders trimmed off), two 104 P. Waner (Vg and borders trimmed off), 105 L. Waner (borders trimmed off), two 107 Vaughan (Vg-Ex and borders trimmed off), 119 Alexander (borders trimmed off), and 120 Johnson (borders trimmed off). The balance of the cards grade as follows: forty-six cards range from Pr to Gd (includes a few slightly better), and sixty cards have their borders trimmed off. 9) 1941 R336 Play Ball partial set (59 of 72 cards): #54 Reese RC (Vg), 60 Klein (Vg-Ex), 61 V. DiMaggio (Vg), 63 D. DiMaggio (Vg-Ex), 64 Doerr (Vg/Vg-Ex), 70 Dickey (Vg-Ex), 71 J. DiMaggio (SGC GOOD 30), 72 Gomez (Vg/Vg-Ex), and nine key cards with the borders trimmed off (#6 Hubbell, 8 Ott, 10 Vaughan, 13 Foxx, 15 Cronin, 18 Greenberg, 19 Gehringer, 20 Ruffing, and 21 Keller). The balance of the cards grade as follows: thirty cards range from Vg to Vg-Ex (with a few slightly lesser), and twelve cards have their borders trimmed off. Very unusual assortment of 1930s and 1940s cards including many highlights! This naturally has tremendous break value.
