1929 R316 Kashin Publications Collection (90) Including Ruth and Gehrig
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,666
Original-owner collection of ninety different 1929 R316 Kashin Publication cards including thirty-one Hall of Famers, highlighted by very sharp examples of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. The popular R316 large-style card (3.5 x 4.5 inches) set consists of 101 different Major Leaguers. This collection is missing just eleven cards: (Donohue, Hadley, Haines, P. Jones, Maguire, McWeeney, Regan, Seibold, Todt, Welsh, Willoughby) for completion. Cards from this set are often in somewhat rough condition (creases, back damage, etc.). This group is comprised of cards far nicer than usually found for this issue. All of these cards are fresh, clean, very impressive examples. We have downgraded some cards from Ex (or better) condition mostly due to very light creases. We have selected three cards to be graded and encapsulated by SGC. Keys: Berg (Vg-Ex), Bottomley (Vg), Combs (Vg-Ex), Faber (Vg), Foxx (Vg-Ex), Frisch (Vg-Ex), Gehrig (SGC VG/EX 50), Gehringer (Vg-Ex), Goslin (Vg-Ex), Grimes (Vg), Grove (small surface chip of paper loss on the right edge, otherwise Ex), Hafey (Vg), Hornsby (Vg), Hoyt (Vg), Klein (Vg), Lindstrom (Vg-Ex), Maranville (Vg-Ex), Ott (SGC VG 40), Pennock (Vg), Rice (Ex), Roush (Vg), Ruffing (Vg), Ruth (SGC VG/EX 50), J. Sewell (Vg-Ex), Simmons (Vg-Ex), Terry (Vg), Traynor (Vg), Vance (Vg-Ex), L. Waner (Vg-Ex), P. Waner (Vg),and Wilson (Vg-Ex). The balance of the cards grade overall Vg-Ex condition. The unusual dimensions and high-quality photographs used to produce these cards make them among the most distinctive of all 1920s issues. This is a very clean, impressive, great group of cards, which includes a particularly high concentration of Hall of Famers, and very strong examples of Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig. Total: 90 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+.
