1916 M101-4 Herpolsheimer #38 Ty Cobb - Highest Graded!
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $7,703
Graded EX/NM 80 by SGC. Highest-graded example by SGC. M101-4 #38 Ty Cobb with the rare Herpolsheimer Company back. The back reads ""Herpolsheimer Co. – Boy’s Fashion Shop – Grand Rapids – Mich." This was saved by the grandfather of our consignor. His family originally lived in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and his grandfather personally got this card in 1916 directly from the Herpolsheimer Company. This is a beautiful card, and one of just a few that we have separated from the balance of the crisp, uncirculated set to be offered individually. Perfectly bright and clean, both front and back, with just a touch of wear to the corners (predominately the lower right), and centered slightly towards the bottom right. Only the second Herpolsheimer Company of Cobb we have ever seen, this is an extremely rare and interesting card dating from the heart of Ty Cobb’s great career. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000+.
