1912 E300 Plow's Candy Johnny Evers
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $3,259
Graded GOOD 30 by SGC. Very attractive example of Hall of Famer Johnny Evers from the extremely elusive 1912 Plow’s Candy issue. This unusual sepia-toned, large-format (3 x 4 inches) candy issue was not even known to exist until the 1960s, and is among the rarest candy cards of the era. This is one of the most striking and impressive of all Johnny Evers cards. The card displays four square corners with just a hint of wear, flawless image clarity, a few light surface creases in the border areas, and light soiling on the blank back. The card has been downgraded to Good by SGC due to surface residue and a light stain on the right portion of the card. This is a spectacular example, especially for the modest grade, of one of the rarest of all Johnny Evers cards, from one of the rarest of all candy-card issues. Extraordinary as a sample card and a card that would be a significant addition to any world-class Hall of Fame or prewar-card collection. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $3,259
