1911 T208 Cullivan's Fireside Harry Davis

Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,555

Graded VG 40 by SGC. T208 Cullivan's Fireside tobacco card of first baseman Harry Davis of the Philadelphia Athletics. Bright and crisp, with a flawless image, a little edge wear and a couple very tiny light creases. Bright, crisp, and clean. This is a particularly strong T208 sample card in terms of condition. The reverse is extremely clean, with exceptionally strong and boldly printed advertising for Cullivan's Fireside tobacco (which of course is extremely desirable for a T208 Cullivan's Fireside example). There is evidence of an insignificant pencil erasure in the upper left on the reverse (a tiny number "8" was long ago neatly written in the corner on the back and has been erased or has faded). Far fewer than 100 T208 Cullivan's Fireside tobacco cards are known to exist for all players combined. This is an extremely attractive, ideal example of a star player from this legendary rare tobacco-card set. Reserve $1,000. Estimate (open).
