1910 E93 Standard Caramel Honus Wagner
Starting Bid - $1,000, Sold For - $3,851
Graded EX 5 by PSA. Presented is an exceptionally high-grade example of Hall of Famer Honus Wagner in a throwing pose from the very popular E93 Standard Caramel series. This 30-card set was issued in 1910 by the Standard Caramel Co. of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. This set is closely related to several other candy sets from the era which share the same format and, in many cases, the same player image. Bright and clean, both front and back, with a bold red background, light wear to the square corners (slightly more to the lower corners), and flawless registration. The perfectly clean back features the checklist for the set. The card has a slight "diamond" cut and the most minute surface chip along the edge of the right border. Strong Excellent condition bordering on Ex-Mt. This card is in extraordinary condition, especially for a caramel card, which because they were issued with candy, one card per package, tend to survive in lesser condition than their more common tobacco-card counterparts. This is a very attractive high-grade example of the legendary Honus Wagner from one of the most popular and colorful of all “E” card issues. SMR value for the assigned grade is $3,800. Reserve $1,000. Estimate $2,000/$3,000+.
