1909 E95 Philadelphia Caramel Honus Wagner

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,370

Graded VG 40 by SGC. Presented is an extremely striking example of Hall of Famer Honus Wagner in a batting pose from the very popular E95 Philadelphia Caramel series, one of Wagner's most beautifully designed cards and one of the key cards from this rare and classic 1910-era candy set. The image on this card is unique to the set. The E95 Philadelphia Caramel card of Honus Wagner is one of his most highly prized cards in any grade, but this is a particularly strong example in all respects with tremendous eye-appeal. Bright and clean, both front and back, with brilliant colors. The corners are rounded. Centered to the left (approximately 35/65). The reverse, centered 65/35, is very clean, with a very bold and sharply printed checklist for the set. There is a single small crease at the bottom left. This is an extremely impressive mid-grade example of one of Wagner’s most desirable cards from one of the most popular and colorful of all “E” card issues. The equivalent SMR value for the assigned grade is $1,750. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+. SOLD FOR $2,370
