1909-1911 T206 Ty Cobb - Bat Off Shoulder

Starting Bid - $400, Sold For - $2,015

Graded VG-EX+ 4.5 by PSA. A very sharp example of one of Ty Cobb's most classic cards. The T206 Ty Cobb bat-off-shoulder pose is one of the key cards in the set. This card displays just a hint of light wear on the corners, extremely vibrant colors, and is centered to the top. The Piedmont advertising on reverse is also centered to the top. This is a very attractive technically mid-grade example. It is also a case where it is very easy to appreciate the PSA half-grade system. It really is better than VG-EX. EX might be a little strong strictly due to centering (it would otherwise be a strong EX), and VG-EX simply does not do justice to the card. The SMR does not provide a value for the VG-EX+ 4.5 grade. The SMR value for a PSA VG-EX 4 is $1,250 and the SMR value for a PSA EX 5 is $2,200. Reserve $400. Estimate $800/$1,200+.
