T207 Brown Background Rarities Collection (21) Including Speaker (Plus 18 T206, 1 E103, 4 D304)
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $3,555
Low-grade collection of twenty-one rarities (eleven different plus ten duplicates) from the 1912 T207 Brown Background set, including Hall of Famer Tris Speaker. The T207 set is well known for its many rare cards that make completing this set so challenging. This collection is comprised almost exclusively of rarer cards from the set. Seventeen of the cards have "Anonymous" backs. This group is part of an original "childhood" card collection, assembled in 1910, and have been consigned to this auction directly by the daughter of the original owner! Consists of the following (quantities in parenthesis): Bushelman, Butcher (2), Donnelly (3), Downey, Houser, Nelson (3), Pelty (3), Perdue, Tris Speaker (HOF), Wallace (2, HOF), and Woodburn (3). Nineteen of the cards range from Fr to Gd, and two are Poor. This is a very attractive low-grade collection of twenty-one significant T207 rarities. Also included are twenty-three additional low-grade 1910 era cards: one E103 Williams Caramel of Dooin (Pr), eighteen T206 White Borders including Addie Joss and one American Beauty back (all in Pr condition), and four D304 Brunner Bread: two Crandall (both Pr) and two Evers (HOF, both Pr). Total: 44 cards (twenty-one T207s, one E103, eighteen T206s, and four D304s). Reserve $300. Estimate $500+. SOLD FOR $3,555
