1909-1911 T206 Ty Cobb - Green Background

Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,252

Graded VG-EX 4 by BVG. Very attractive example of this classic tobacco card of Hall of Famer Ty Cobb. The Green Background pose has long been considered the rarest of the four poses of Cobb in the T206 set. This is a very sharp-looking card, with outstanding eye-appeal, flawless registration, a deep green background, clean both front and back, with just a hint of a stray mark on the right border, centered toward the top left border, even corner wear (just a hint too much to qualify for EX, but not far off), and no creases. Sweet Caporal reverse. This is a very striking Vg-Ex example of one of the key cards from the premier tobacco issue of the 1910 era. The equivalent SMR value is $2,750. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $2,252
