Large Collection of Vintage Tin Windup Toys (17)

This large and diverse collection of vintage tin windup toys includes those produced by Louis Marx & Co., Unique Art, and the Ferdinand Strauss Corporation. Unless otherwise noted, all of the toys are in working order, although a few need a little more help than others in getting started. All of the toys display, at a minimum, normal wear commensurate with their age and former use, including minor scratches, abrasions, and tiny "dings." 1) 1930 Amos 'n' Andy "Fresh Air Taxi Cab" manufactured by the Marx. Includes original windshield (soiled). 7.75 inches long. Vg. 2) 1930 Amos (of Amos 'n' Andy) walking toy manufactured by Marx. 11.5 inches tall. Gd. 3) Ham and Sam minstrel band with original box. Manufactured by Strauss. 8 inches tall; 6.5 inches long. Vg. The box (7.25 x 5.5 x 4 inches) displays numerous tears, many repaired on the exterior with clear tape. Fr. 4) Circa 1930s Knockout Champs with original box. Manufactured by Marx. With two white celluloid boxers (was also offered with one white and one black boxer). 7 x 7 x 7.25 inches. The windup key may not be original. Vg. The box (7.5 x 7.5 x 5.5 inches) is missing all of the top flaps and two of the three bottom flaps. A number of tears are evident throughout. Fr. 5) 1945 Lil' Abner Dogpatch Band manufactured by Unique Art. 9 inches long; 8.25 inches high. Vg. 6) Circa 1920s Jazz-Bo Jim "The Dancer on the Roof" manufactured by Unique Art. Not in working order. 9.75 inches tall. Gd. 7) Circa 1912 Tombo "The Alabama Coon Jigger" manufactured by Strauss. Not in working order. 9.5 inches tall. Gd, with repair to the pole. 8) Circa late 1940s B. O. Plenty (from the Dick Tracy comic strip) manufactured by Marx. 8.5 inches tall. Vg. 9) Circa 1940s Mortimer Snerd "Crazy Car" manufactured by Marx. 7 inches tall; 7.25 inches long. Vg. 10) Carousel. No manufacturer listed. Most likely from the 1930s or earlier. Three hanging seats, each with a small composite likeness of the same woman, only in a different color outfit. 9.5 inches tall. Fr/Gd. 11) Circa 1930 motorcycle with side car manufactured by G & K (Greppert & Kelch) of Germany. 6.5 inches long. Gd. 12) Circa 1930s handcar with blue rider manufactured by Marx. Rider holds a central lever that goes back as the car goes. The letters "CU" are cut out on one side of the car. 4.5 inches tall; 5.25 inches long. Gd. 13) Circa 1940s walking police officer manufactured by J Chein & Co. 5 inches tall. Gd. 14) Circa 1950 green sedan manufactured by Marx. Not in working order. Gd. 15) Circa 1920s "Flasho" the mechanical grinder, manufactured by Woods Mechanical Toys. Originally, sparks would fly when the device was wound, but most of the abrasive material on the wheel has now worn away. 4.5 inches tall. Gd. 16) Circa 1930s machinist grinder. Produced in Germany as stamped on base; no manufacturer listed. Sparks actually fly from the wheel when wound. Gd-Vg. 17) Circa 1930s black car with male driver.
