1927 W. A. & A. C. Churchman "Famous Golfers" (Small) #27 Bobby Jones - PSA NM-MT 8
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $711
Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Only five examples graded higher by PSA. Sharp high-grade example of #27 Bobby Jones, one of two different poses of Jones featured in the 1927 W. A. & A. C. Churchman "Famous Golfers" small series. Inscribed as "Series of 50" on the reverse, the small variety of "Famous Golfers" cards compliment the rarer 12-card larger version of the same year. Jones is the most valuable card in the set. It is also one of the most well known and popular of all Bobby Jones cards, and of all 1920s golf cards. This example is bright, crisp, and clean, both front and back, with perfect contrast, and four sharp corners. The reverse is perfectly clean with bold green text. This is a very attractive high-grade example of one of the key Jones cards from the 1927 Churchman "Famous Golfers" set and one of the most highly prized golf cards of the era. The SMR value for the assigned grade is $1,200. Reserve $300. Estimate $500++.
