1957-1958 Topps Basketball Complete PSA-Graded Set (80)

Starting Bid - $2,500, Sold For - $6,518

Exceptionally high-grade complete 1957-1958 Topps Basketball set, entirely graded and encapsulated by PSA. This is Topps' first basketball set, and the only basketball set they issued during the 1950s. It apparently did not sell well as Topps did not follow up with another basketball set until 1969. The set features the rookie cards of all of the major stars of the era including legendary Hall of Famers Bill Russell and Bob Cousy. The PSA grades are as follows: One NM-MT 8: #31. Twenty-nine NM 7: #4, 11, 16, 18, 21, 22, 23, 24 Pettit RC, 30, 33, 34, 35, 36, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42 Stokes RC, 45, 51, 53, 54, 56, 57, 63, 64, 65, 68, and 74. One EX-MT+ 6.5: #47. Forty-eight EX-MT 6: #1 Clifton RC, 2, 3, 5 Sharman RC, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 Arizin RC, 12, 13, 14, 15 Ramsey RC, 17 Cousy RC, 19 Heinsohn RC, 20, 25, 26, 28 Mikkelsen RC, 29, 32 Kerr RC, 37 Hagan RC, 43 Hundley RC, 44, 46, 48, 49, 50, 52, 55, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62, 66, 67, 69, 70, 71 Twyman RC, 72, 73, 75, 76, 77 Russell RC, 78 Lovellette RC, 79, and 80 Schnittker RC (last card in set). One EX 5: #27 Macauley RC. 1957 Topps Basketball is well known for production quality issues, making the assembling of high-quality sets particularly challenging. This is an extremely attractive ultra high-grade complete set of this significant basketball issue, with all eighty cards encapsulated and graded by PSA, with all but one single card (which is in a very respectable Excellent condition) ranging in grade between EX-MT and NM-MT. The total SMR value for the individual cards is $9,060. Total: 80 cards. Reserve $2,500. Estimate $5,000+. SOLD FOR $6,518
