1909-1911 E90-1 American Caramel Card Collection Including Ty Cobb (62)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $4,740
Collection of sixty-two different E90-1 American Caramel cards including thirteen Hall of Famers, highlighted by Ty Cobb, Cy Young, Nap Lajoie, and two Willie Keelers. These have been consigned by the family of an old-time collector. The E90-1 set is the most widely collected of all 1910-era caramel issues. This is a mixed-grade collection, with condition ranging from Poor to Vg. Three cards are graded by SGC. Highlights: Baker (HOF, Gd), Bender (HOF, Gd), Chase (Vg), Clarke/Pitt. (HOF, SGC FAIR 20), Clement (SGC POOR 10), Cobb (HOF, Fr), Collins (HOF, Gd-Vg), Crawford (HOF, Pr), Demmitt (Pr), Engle (Fr), Fromme (Pr), Graham (Pr), Hall (Authentic), Jennings (HOF, Vg), Joss/port. (HOF, Vg/Vg-Ex), Karger (Authentic), Keeler/port. - pink (HOF, Vg), Keeler/throwing (HOF, borders trimmed off), Knight (SGC POOR 10), Lajoie (HOF, Vg), McLean (Pr), Schlitzer (Pr-Fr), Sweeney/Boston (Authentic), Tinker (HOF, Vg), Upp (Pr), Wallace (HOF, Gd-Vg), and Young/Boston (HOF, Vg). The balance of the cards in this collection grade as follows: eight cards are Vg and twenty-seven are lesser (mostly Poor, including a few trimmed). This collection has an impressive concentration of key Hall of Famers and represents a very substantial start to collecting one of the era's most difficult-to-complete sets. Overall very consistent and reasonably uniform in grade, with many cards having far superior eye-appeal than their technically accurate grades. Total: 62 cards. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000.
