Enormous Football Hall of Fame Autograph Collection with Thorpe (3), Henry, Chamberlin, Guyon, McNally, and Driscoll (225
Starting Bid - $2,000, Sold For - $7,703
This extremely substantial Pro Football Hall of Fame autograph collection is comprised of 225 signatures, representing 140 different players, including many rarities. Also offered here is the scarce signature of 1941 Heisman Trophy winner and College Football Hall of Fame inductee Bruce Smith. (Smith died of cancer at the age of 47 in 1967.) A total of 196 signatures appear on either a lined or unlined 3 x 5-inch card or postcard, while the remaining twenty-nine examples appear on various items, including gum cards and a check (none of the gum cards are vintage issues; all date from the 1980s or later). Among the highlights are a Wilbur Henry check, and three Jim Thorpe signatures. Approximately twenty percent of the pieces have been personalized (the majority are addressed "To Steve"), while many others feature salutations (i. e., "best wishes" or "best of luck"). Unless otherwise noted, all of the signatures, which have been scripted in various inks (grading "9" or "10") appear on a 3 x 5-inch card. In our listing, the number of signatures for each player (if more than one) is noted in parenthesis.
