LeRoy Neiman 1972 Olympic Serigraph Collection (6)

Collection of six LeRoy Neiman signed serigraphs, each relating to the Olympics, including four examples from his highly regarded 1972 Munich Suite. 1-4) Four limited-edition Munich Suite serigraphs. The Munich Suite, which was issued in 1972, is comprised of twelve different serigraphs, all of which capture the action at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany, as seen by Neiman. (Neiman was the official artist for ABC Television at the Olympic Games in 1972 and 1976.) Each of the twelve titles in the suite was limited to just 250 prints, plus proofs. Offered here are three of the twelve serigraphs in the suite, plus one duplicate. Each serigraph measures 20 x 16 inches, bears a handwritten limitation number, and has been signed by Neiman in pencil (grading "10") in the lower right margin. The titles featured here are Jim Ryun ("93/250"; slightly toned from having once been matted and framed; approximate four-inch area of surface paper loss along the top border resulting from its removal from the matting; Ex.), Woman Weight Lifter ("AP"; slightly toned from having once been matted and framed; minor foxing; two small areas of surface paper loss along the front border and both surface paper loss and tape residue along the top reverse border, all of which resulted from its removal from the matting; Vg-Ex), Shot Put ("AP"; moderately toned with minor horizontal creases from having once been rolled; a thin area of surface paper loss along the reverse top border as a result of its having been removed from a frame; Vg-Ex), and Shot Put ("211/250"; lightly toned from having once been matted and framed, minor horizontal creases from having once been rolled; an approximate 4 x 2-inch area of heavy surface paper loss along the bottom border resulting from its removal from the matting; Vg-Ex). 5) Olympic Runner. Numbered "AP" and signed by Neiman in pencil in the lower right margin. Produced during the 1972 Olympics. 20 x 26 inches. Matted by means of tape along the reverse top border; otherwise Nr-Mt. 6) Olympic Track. Numbered "AP" and signed by Neiman in pencil in the lower right margin. 45 x 26 inches. The print displays minor horizontal rippling; otherwise Nr-Mt. Matted to total dimensions of 48 x 29 inches. Total: 6 serigraphs. Reserve $200. Estimate $500++. SOLD FOR $711
