1916 Brooklyn Robins World Series Press Pin
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $2,666
Brooklyn Robins press pin issued for the 1916 World Series against the Boston Red Sox. All pre-1920 World Series press pins are extremely rare. This pin is also very significant to Dodgers collectors as it commemorates the first modern-day World Series appearance for Brooklyn. The colorful pin features a blue-and-white enamel border that reads "World Series" and "1916" in gold lettering. The center displays a concave baseball design in gold that reads "Brooklyn." The very high relief design of the baseball center of this pin makes it especially susceptible to wear. This is a very high-grade example of this condition-sensitive pin, far superior to most such pins, with perfect enamel and virtually no wear at the highest point of the design. Manufactured by Dieges & Clust: threaded-post back; circular with scalloped edges. Diameter: 0.75 inches. Near Mint condition. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000+. SOLD FOR $2,666
