1903 E107 Breisch-Williams Bill Dineen (Dinneen)
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,896
Graded FAIR 20 by SGC. A very attractive E107 example of Red Sox pitcher and 1903 World Series hero Bill Dinneen of the Boston Americans. It is interesting to note that Dinneen’s name is misspelled as "Dineen" on this card. Dinneen won 20 games for the 1900 Boston Nationals but really came into his own when he jumped to the Red Sox in 1902. He had three straight seasons of 21 or more wins. In the 1903 World Series, Dinneen dominated, winning three of four decisions. Two of his victories, including the final game, were shutouts. This card features a striking image of Dinneen in uniform at the peak of his fame. The card is well centered with evenly rounded corners, a few creases, and a small area of paper loss on the blank back. This is an outstanding card of Dinneen issued immediately following Dinneen's great success in leading the Red Sox to victory in the first-ever World Series. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000+.
