1913 Ticket Stub from the First Brooklyn Dodgers Game at Ebbets Field
Starting Bid - $200, Sold For - $5,333
Exceedingly rare ticket stub from the first official game ever played at Ebbets Field, on April 9, 1913. Approximately 10,000 fans braved the cold and wind that day to watch the Dodgers play the visiting Philadelphia Phillies. Unfortunately, the Phillies spoiled the celebration by defeating the Dodgers 1-0. This is the first example of this historically significant opening-day ticket we have ever seen, let alone offered. With only 10,000 in attendance that day, it's not surprising that so few have survived. The ticket (3 x 1.25 inches), which bears the date "Apr. 9 1913" and a red, circular stamp reading "Brooklyn Ball Club," has two punch holes, numerous light creases, and surface paper loss on the reverse. In Very Good condition. Reserve $200. Estimate $400++. SOLD FOR $5,333
