Circa 1928 Official National League (Heydler) Baseball In Unopened Box
Starting Bid - $300, Sold For - $1,896
Rare Spalding official National League (Heydler) baseball still housed in its original unopened box. The box is complete with its unbroken, paper band, as issued; however, a partial tear in the band has been repaired by strip of clear tape. The ball pictured on the cover of this box (with red and black stitching) was only manufactured by Spalding between the years 1926 and 1932, thus dating the ball with certainty to that time period. The box displays light wear, including a few light creases and abrasions (as well as the aforementioned tape repair to the paper band), none of which detract in the least from its overall Excellent to Mint appearance. The ball, presumably, is in Mint condition. Unopened official National League balls dating from the 1920s are exceedingly rare. This is only the fourth example we have handled in the past nine years. Reserve $300. Estimate $500/$1,000+. SOLD FOR $1,896
