1910-1912 T215 Red Cross Tobacco Type 1 - Chief Bender
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $1,410
Graded VG 40 by SGC. Trees in background pose. Extremely rare T215 Red Cross (Type 1) series card featuring Hall of Famer Chief Bender. This card is one of the many highlights from one of vintage-card collecting's most exciting recent discoveries: the Louisiana Find of 2010 (comprised of just 94 cards, all rarities, including eight T207 Red Cross back cards). T215 Red Cross are one of tobacco-card collecting's most overlooked issues. Very similar in design and borrowing images from the T206 set, T215 Red Cross cards are believed to have been issued exclusively in the Louisiana area. The cards measure 1-1/2" x 2-5/8", which is the standard size for tobacco issues. Bright, crisp, and clean, with a bold colorful background, and even wear to the slightly rounded corners. The reverse of the card is also bright and clean, with flawless red text, and centered slightly to the left (when held horizontally as intended). This is an extraordinary T215 Hall of Famer example from one of tobacco-card collecting's rarest sets. Reserve $500. Estimate (open). SOLD FOR $1,410
