1895 N300 Mayo's Cut Plug Amos Russie - Incorrect Spelling
Starting Bid - $500, Sold For - $3,231
Graded EX 60 by SGC. One of only three examples graded at this level by SGC, with just one example graded higher. Hall of Famer Amos Rusie from the N300 Mayo series. Rusie was issued in two variations in the Mayo set, with his name spelled correctly, and with his name misspelled "Russie," with an extra "s." This is the variation with the misspelling. Because Rusie's career spanned the years from 1889 to 1901, an era in which few sets were issued, he appears on very few cards. Centered to the right, with just a few small scattered edge nicks to the black borders. This is a very sharp-looking card, with a clean reverse. This is an outstanding key Hall of Famer from one of the ninteenth century's most important sets. Reserve $500. Estimate $1,000/$2,000++. SOLD FOR $3,231
